Edavana Damodaran began to write before the age of twelve and his poem appeared in an
Indian magazine when he was sixteen.
His early writings were influenced by the canonical texts and other erudite tracts which his learned father made him memorize. Young Damodaran soon went beyond the textual charms of traditional verse and found himself grappling with the ultimate questions 'what', 'why' and 'how'.
Damodaran began 'sorting' himself out in his books. His first major book Critique Of Self published in 1966. It was a basic analysis of the nature and position of Self in relation to the Universe. "To know Self" writes Damodaran, "is to know the Absolute. And to know this, there are as many ways as there are individuals".
Critique Of Self was followed by Self-Knowledge For Sane Living in 1969. He then decided to plunge into business activities for more than two decades. Like everything he does, he totally drowned himself with the task at hand. As years went by, he realized his true passion was in seeking knowledge and searching for the truth. He got himself back into researching and writing and what followed was a series of books starting with Story Of India published in 1997 followed by Man And His Civilizations and then came India The Cradle Of Mankind followed by Human Destiny. His book Myths And Shilbboleths Of Indian History summarizes his studies in different disciplines spanning over six decades. In his latest book A Brief History of Man, he concludes his research studies based on evidences from geology, archeology, anthropology, evolutionary psychology, religion and phylosophy and brings out the fact that India is the cradle of mankind from the Miccene Age, between 24 and 5 million years ago.
